It’s Christmas Eve Here’s A Stove Owners Guide To Keeping Santa Safe This Christmas HoHoHo 🎅🏼🤶🏻🎄✨ At this time of year, we’re often asked what impact having a wood-burning stove in your home has on Santa Claus’ ability to deliver to you on Christmas Eve. While there are subtle differences in comparison to a traditional open fireplace, the good news is that it’s quite easy to be a considerate wood-burning stove owner when it comes to keeping Father Christmas’ interests in mind. The list First things first, putting your Christmas wish list on a stove will work in exactly the same way as an open fireplace. You can expect any lists that have been put inside your stove to be delivered directly to the North Pole. Stockings and decorations Keep in mind that you shouldn’t hang stockings, tinsel or other decorations too close to your stove. Keep them as far away from your stove as you would keep them from an open fire. Temperature Remember to let your stove go out at a reasonable hour on Christmas Eve. Even hot ashes could give Santa Claus a nasty burn, so it’s important to give your stove chance to cool down before Santa arrives. The flue pipe question The most common question we’re asked: can Santa fit down a flue pipe? The short answer is yes. While it looks like it would be a very awkward fit, it’s quite easy when you know how. Using the same magic he uses to get down narrow chimneys, Santa can usually squeeze his belly down a flue pipe. Chimney cowl If you have a chimney cowl to stop things getting into your flue pipe, you might want to send Santa a note asking him to use an alternative entrance. Alternatively, if it’s quite easy to remove, you could just allow Santa to briefly remove the cowl and refit when he’s leaving your home. Leave the stove door ajar Imagine Santa’s frustration if he squeezes down your flue pipe only to find that the stove door is closed and he’s locked inside your stove. Leaving the door slightly ajar when you go to bed will ensure Santa can get into the room easily. So from the Stove Soecialists UK team we would like to wish you a safe happy & very Merry Christmas HoHoHo 🎅🏼🤶🏻🎄✨

The burning question hohoho 🎅🏼🤶🏻🎄🎁✨ One of the biggest concerns raised by our customers before they buy wood-burning stoves from us is whether Santa Claus will be able to get down a wood-burning stove flue pipe to deliver Christmas presents. Obviously, a woodburner is a lovely addition to any home, but would you want to install one at the expense of having presents to open on Christmas morning? Probably not. The good news is that, despite the difficulties that might be presented to Father Christmas, he is perfectly capable of delivering presents via a stove flue pipe. Indeed he has been successfully delivering to homes with woodburners for centuries. Woodburners are currently enjoying a significant resurgence, but they have been used to heat homes for hundreds of years. Although most flues are between five and eight inches in diameter, Santa will still be able to access any property with a woodburner. Many modern homes that have gas fires or open fireplaces with masonry flues will have access of a similar diameter. Many newer properties have no chimney breast or fireplace at all, and Santa is still able to deliver to those. Our understanding is that, given his previous record of getting stuck in open fireplace chimneys, Santa now prefers to uses his magic powers to squeeze himself into even homes with unlined chimneys to avoid any mishaps so those with wood-burning stoves are no different . One consideration for stove owners on Christmas Eve is to remember to leave the door of their woodburner ajar to allow Santa easy access once he has come down the flue pipe. As with open, gas and electric fireplaces, Santa will certainly appreciate any mince pies and drinks that are left near to wood-burning stoves on Christmas Eve.

One of the questions we’re most frequently asked at this time of year is the best way of sending a letter to Santa Claus using a wood-burning stove. Using your fireplace and a sprinkle of Christmas magic to send a list of the things you would like for Christmas is a time-honoured tradition. If you’re used to sending your letter to Santa on an open fire (where you presumably also roasted your chestnuts), then you might have some concerns over using your woodburner. Here’s our suggested method for sending a letter to Santa Claus using a wood-burning stove. 1. Burn some newspaper The intense burn from a single sheet of newspaper will help to dislodge any air pockets that have settled in your flue pipe. We don’t want anything blocking your letter’s route to the North Pole, do we? 2. Light your stove as normal Get your woodburner up and running as usual. A really strong draw will help to ensure the embers of your letter to Santa Claus are whisked up the flue quickly and efficiently, so we’d suggest burning well-seasoned hardwood logs. 3. Add the letter to your woodburner Holding your letter to Santa Claus with a stove glove, carefully add it to the firebox alongside the fuel. Remember: this is a once-a-year thing and you shouldn’t ordinarily be adding paper to a woodburner that’s already burning well. 4. Sit back and enjoy You are now free to relax and watch your letter set alight and disappear up the flue towards the North Pole. 5. Be nice Even following this tried and trusted method of getting your letter to Santa Claus will not be any use if you don’t get yourself onto his nice list. So once your list of presents has begun its magical journey to Santa, please be on your best behaviour.
